Jakub Iwanowski<p>I've started tinkering with <a href="https://social.dzajew.xyz/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a> setup thanks to <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@concretedog" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>concretedog</span></a></span> 's post <a href="https://concretedog.blogspot.com/2025/03/super-affordable-960-meshtastic-xiao.html?m=1" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://concretedog.blogspot.com/2025/03/super-affordable-960-meshtastic-xiao.html?m=1</a>.<br>It's pretty neat.<br>Also, a new antenna and a battery are on their way 😅</p>
Finn<p>In Flensburg I already have found some Meshtastic nodes. Today I have been in Schleswig and I took my Heltec v3.</p><p>Unfortunately I didn't find any nodes, maybe try some higher place next time. But the weather was fine and the view was great. </p><p>Some duck came by, probably he thought we want to feed him.</p><p><a href="https://toot.fan/tags/Meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Meshtastic</span></a> <a href="https://toot.fan/tags/Schleswig" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Schleswig</span></a></p>
Eller är vi den förfärliga radioskuggan jag förfarar!?</p><p><a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/LoRa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LoRa</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/LilyGO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LilyGO</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/Radio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Radio</span></a></p>
kravietz 🦇<p>Wow <a class="hashtag" href="https://agora.echelon.pl/tag/meshtastic" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Meshtastic</a></p><p>Technically, it’s not surprising because Meshtastic can easily reach 10 km in line of sight, and airplane flying at this altitude has probably the best radio horizon around. But still it’s nice to see this in a chat full of messages from the local range.</p>
dctrud<p>Bigger is not always better!</p><p>Swapped a 1/2 wavelength whip antenna for an (apparently better) small stubby thing this morning, and now get a weak direct connection from St Austell to a node in Falmouth which is 20 miles away.</p><p>Online tool shows pretty close to line-of-sight. Impressive how far it can see given that.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a></p>
Meshtastic<p>Check out this wild creation from our community member Mictronics, shared in our Discord community! He built a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a> node into an old <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nokia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nokia</span></a> 5130, and yes, the multi-tap keyboard works. nullagent<p>Idea for this PR is to add a network bridge mode for repeaters.</p><p>This will let you take multiple LoRa radios, setup meshcore repeater firmware and listen on any number of channels or with different antenna setups and bridge the routing across those different channels with a shared Wifi link.</p><p>I've tested it for a few days and it's pretty amazing to see meshcore automatically finding bridged routes.</p><p><a href="https://github.com/ripplebiz/MeshCore/pull/96" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/ripplebiz/MeshCore/</span><span class="invisible">pull/96</span></a></p><p><a href="https://partyon.xyz/tags/lora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lora</span></a> <a href="https://partyon.xyz/tags/meshcore" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshcore</span></a> <a href="https://partyon.xyz/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a> <a href="https://partyon.xyz/tags/esp32" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>esp32</span></a> <a href="https://partyon.xyz/tags/offgrid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offgrid</span></a></p>

It uses the same Lora radios but is FAR more powerful for networking than meshtastic because it can uses many different radio technologies so you could have a 100 acre property on Lora radios connect to your home network and the internet. You can even use the meshtastic mesh to send private encrypted data on your network. It’s seriously bad ass.</p>
