I did this field recording last month of quite a lot of crows in Seattle. This is actually two consecutive recordings, one after the other, recorded a short distance apart. Some traffic and airplane noise, too. soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro #sound #crows #seattle #fieldrecording #birds

I use an 'old' Audio-Technica AT825 for field recording and it's an awesome device for this. But I never had to research to get a new one, and the ones you find on ebay are often quite damaged and need fixing. Any other field recorder that could recommend a ~300$ mic for field recording, not a shotgun mic, but to capture the ambiant sounds and stereo.

announcing: @Marc_Namblard — "arctic summer" [CD/DL - fom14, 2025] out March 21st ❄️

We are launching our ice series with "arctic summer", a journey across the sonic ecologies of Iceland and Svalbard, by wildlife sound recordist and nature guide Marc Namblard. The album forms a delicate but bustling volcanic, animal, and glacial tapestry that invites us to eavesdrop on the vastness and the minute of the cryosphere.

New soundscape recording. Feel free to let me know what you think and give some feedback!

A flock of cows, horses and goats slowly grazes from left to right against the steep grassy mountain slope of Monte Marrone, Molise, Italy. The microphone is surrounded by grashoppers, bees and flies and has woodland on either side. Occasionally the wind intensifies.

Note to self: If I go up the hill behind my neighborhood for #FieldRecording, I should probably do so during daylight hours. The way back down felt a bit … adventurous.

Other than that, it was cold as heck, but very nice seeing the stars glint through the bare trees, and it was good for my mood.

Noticed that there some people here that like field recordings as much as I do!

Posting another album, this time from another part of the world: Tarutao island in Thailand. This one comes from Tomasz Mirt, a Polish sound artist, and an inventor behind quite popular XAOC Devices eurorack modules. Saamleng is a field recordings label that he runs. Worth checking.

Another amazing sound report from Amazon rainforest. Izabela Dłużyk is a blind female field recordist from Poland. It's worth checking her amazing work!

_"[W]e're taken to the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, specifically the Tambopata National Reserve. The album invites you to dive into the rich sonic landscape of the rainforest, capturing the sounds of countless species of insects, birds, frogs, monkeys, and the Tambopata River. Split into two parts — "Encounters at Daylight" and "Whispers from the Dark" — these recordings offer an intimate glimpse into the daily rhythms of jungle life. Tracks are carefully described with timestamps of specific species or events in an attached booklet."_
