I know better than to doom scroll on #Mastodon.

I'll disable the app on my #GrapheneOS phone and see how long I can go without using it. Sure, I could still doom scroll on my #Laptop or #Desktop running #Debian, but that's not the point.

Instead, I'm challenging myself to redirect my energy towards reading about Debian, Anarcho-syndicalism, and things that interest me.

Today was enough, and I'm taking control.

Let's see how this experiment goes.

~ Maybe because you try to „convince" form experience I know it is easier if you just sent a link to Signal, offer help with installation, tell them that it take's two minute's.

I use Simplex and Signal ONLY

❗Telegram is NOT encrypted by default, even WhatsApp is more secure (using Signal encryption) but... WhatsApp collect metadata to Meta.

I would like to add something on this topic

• Brave, TorBrowser, Vanadium - this one (for now available in GraphensOS only)

• Tutanota
• OrganicMaps
• Bitwarden
• Aegis
• Markor
• Fossify Notes

• Accrescent (app store, not many apps yet, it is still developed)

Plus clean operating system
• GrapheneOS

After asking for help this morning and getting several answers, I discovered today:
- @Fairphone the name says it all, and they support alternative mobile OS with instructions on their own website.
- @murena really nice to see folks shipping a phone with /e/OS (@e_mydata), a fully "deGoogled" mobile ecosystem.
- @GrapheneOS really interesting alternative OS for several Google phones.
- backmarket.com useful not only for refurbished phones, but also for other electronic devices.

Not to mention the help I've got on specific questions from people I don't know.

The Fediverse rocks!

#grapheneos #android

I really like the backup function in #GrapheneOS based on #Seedvault. I know it doesn't work 100%, some apps don't support it etc. But in my case >90% of apps get backed up and restored.

This is what all Androids should have. I understand #Google doesn't want to do it because for them #Android is just a gateway to their services and when you have all your data in their cloud, you don't need such backups. But other Android vendors should have it.

Shot in the dark here, but has anyone used Island / Insular with #GrapheneOS in #Android ? (For those less familiar with it, Island/Insular is a tool by Oasis Feng that creates a custom work profile it manages to isolate apps installed within that profile. This way they don't get access to things most apps get access to on the host system -- even the stuff that doesn't have to ask for permission generally. Though there are a few things the work profile can still see.)

I'm having an issue that stuff I'm installing inside the island is disappearing after a while (specifically I guess after a reboot?) This doesn't occur in any other "ROM" I've used, so I think possibly it's related to the custom installer #GrapheneOS uses.

Anyone have any experience with this?

MollySocket allows getting Signal notifications via UnifiedPush. - GitHub - mollyim/mollysocket: MollySocket allows getting Signal notifications via UnifiedPush.

My life with two phones was short-lived. It was not practical. I decided to go all in with #GrapheneOS and #Pixel 6a. I'll be giving the Samsung Galaxy S22 to someone else in the family and using the Pixel 6a for the next half of the year. If it's okay, I'll get a Pixel 10 and install GrapheneOS on it. If not, I'll humbly go back to Samsung and get the S25.

BTW it is interesting to find that I can live with a used phone for €120.
